Today, I want to talk about the Republican threat. Republicans are the most serious threat to American democracy. The current effort by Republicans to deny and limit voting is a direct attack on liberal democracy.

All nations that possess nuclear weapons are a threat to humanity and other living things. It’s easy to point the finger at Putin right now because of his insane war against Ukraine. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump share some of the same attributes that put them in a world of lies, power, and authoritarianism.
Each of these authoritarians is a clear and present danger. It’s not difficult to say this about Vladimir Putin. He’s launched a war of extermination in Ukraine. But our memory is short when it comes to discussing Donald Trump. Trump launched an attack on American democracy. When I first started traveling to the USSR in 1981, the map below was an accurate depiction of European countries. Today, Russia has moved more than 100,000 troops, tanks and armaments to the eastern border of Ukraine.
This situation could have been avoided, or never have happened if it weren’t for the West’s inability or refusal to communicate honestly, talk with compassion, discuss openly to develop lasting relationships with Russians.
