Today we visited the Book Exchange, an independent bookstore in Marietta, Georgia. Today is the 10th anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day. The Book Exchange is an award-winning bookstore on Canton Road, a few miles north of Marietta Square. Jennifer Gillman owns the Book Exchange. When I first visited the Book Exchange, I met Julia, one of the key employees of the store. I asked her if she wanted to stock my new book, The Trump Files. She said, give me a copy; I’ll read it and let you know. Luckily, she liked the book. I did a book signing last Saturday.

The store is stocked with new and used books. There is a section of books written by local authors. The store is a center of activity for book lovers. The Book Exchange sponsors author signing events, as well as book discussions, expert panels, and other events. One of the aspects of the store that noticed is how many people volunteer at the store, and how active the store is. Here are few images from today’s visit to the store.

At the store, I had the pleasure of meeting three independent authors who were there to sign their recent book.

Emily Huffman

The first author I met was Emily Huffman, author of the Shattered Trilogy. She told me about her three novels which were published as a trilogy in 2022. Emily is an inspiring author. Her books are available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats.

Tijuana Agnew

Tijuana Agnew is the Chair of the Board for the nonprofit organization Children in Need Inc. She has over ten years of Child Advocacy experience as a Guardian Ad Litem in Atlanta, GA. She is currently is the founder of Children in Need, Inc.

Her professional work is inspiring, and I was moved by her dedication to youth as a child advocate.

Barbara Bauer

Barbara Bauer is a children’s book author whom I had the pleasure of meeting today at the Book Exchange. She told me she collaborated with Joshua Garrett, an Azerbaijan-based educator and illustrator, and Linda Cabaluna (her sister), a graphic artist. Her book Simon and the Fright at Night introduces us to Simon Duvall, a little monster. I was pleased to meet her and learned that her husband and I graduated from The Ohio State University. I graduated many years before he did.

The Trump Files was exhibited at the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair in the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) booth.

The Frankfurt Book Fair has a tradition spanning more than 500 years. In 1454, soon after Johannes Gutenberg had developed printing in movable letters in Mainz near Frankfurt, the first book fair was held by local booksellers.
