Why Do Trump Supporters Not See What I See?

I saw this question today, “Why do Trump supporters not see what I see?” in Bandy Lee’s Substack newsletter. For years, many people I know and I have asked similar questions

To try and answer this question I want to introduce two people who have studied, given speeches, and written books on violence, aggression, Trump contagion, and malignant normality to this conversation. Let me introduce Dr. Bandy X. Lee and Dr. Robert Jay Lifton. Their writing was important sources for me as I wrote my recent book, The Trump Files. Trump has spread a contagion of hate and violence to which a cult of Maga bobble heads shows complete allegiance. Influenced by the failure American media, print and digital to call out Trump, they have perpetuated what Robert Jay Lifton defines as malignant normality. The press is normalizing Trump’s malignant behavior. His cult further reinforces this normality at his rallies. No wonder Trump supporters don’t see what I see. They can’t

Voted Today, Ushered to the Front of the Line!

I voted on the first day of advanced voting today at the Boots Ward Recreation Center on Dallas Highway, Marietta, Georgia. The line was short, but one of the election staff members said my wife and I could go to the front if you are 75 or older. He assumed we were old. We are. We’re in our 80s. So we strolled down the lawn to the door and went right in. I asked another election staff if we could keep hold of our Starbucks coffees. He said, as long as the lid is on. I was amazed. Georgia has a rule that you can’t give out water to others, but you can carry a bottle of water.
The ballot wasn’t wrong, except for the first page. At the top of the vote for president was Donald Trump’s name. A convicted felon, rapist, and fraudster, his name is on the ballot, and millions of people will vote for the guy. In some states, you can’t vote if you are a felon. Yet, felon Trump is on the ballot.

Hurricanes and Misinformation: Analyzing Political Deceit

The post discusses the misinformation spread by Republicans, particularly Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene, in the wake of devastating hurricanes that impacted multiple states, including Florida and North Carolina. It criticizes their false claims about federal disaster relief funding and their denial of climate change’s role in intensifying storms. The author argues that disinformation during disasters undermines first responders’ efforts and poses serious threats, as public trust is eroded and communities suffer. The post also highlights ongoing legislative efforts against climate change and evolution education in the U.S.

101 Years Ago, Germany Sought A Dictator: I Hope We are Not.

101 Years Ago, Germany Sought A Dictator: I Hope We Are Not. Germany had suffered the trauma of defeat in World War I. Significantly, there were plots to bring down German democracy. Donald Trump thinks he’s a “strongman.” He certainly utters some of the words used by dictators and strongmen. But Trump is not A strongman. He desperately wants to be. He is weak and old. Trump may be a weak strongman, but he is a dangerous wanna-be dictator. If he were elected, he would surely undermine and attempt to dismantle democratic guard rails. He’s a convicted felon and shouldn’t be president

Science in the Age of Trump: Let’s Not Let it Happen Again!

Science in the age of Trump was diminished at the peril of the health and well-being for not only people and other living things, but Earth itself, including its air, water, land, and other natural resources. Donald Trump’s Dangerous Rhetoric is Fueling Political Violence

The provocative rhetoric of figures like Donald Trump and J.D. Vance has significantly shaped the political landscape in recent months. Donald Trump, as we all recall, instigated a violent attack on the nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, resulting in his second impeachment and two indictments charged by the U.S. Justice Department and the District Attorney of Fulton County, Ga.

Trump’s speeches and social media posts often contain inflammatory language that can incite strong reactions among their supporters. This rhetoric has contributed to a climate where political violence is increasingly seen as a viable means of expressing discontent. Understanding the impact of his words and media posts is crucial in analyzing the broader implications for political stability and public safety.

Ever Lastings: Annie Richards, the 19th century flower hunter: A new book by Roger Cross

Roger Cross has penned a unique blend of novel, biography, journal, and story, offering a fresh perspective on a Victorian woman’s journey as a botanical collector in the Australian outback. Despite her significant contributions, Annie Richards faced the common plight of women whose work was not acknowledged by science societies, which were dominated by men. Roger Cross’s book makes up for that and brings to life his “flower hunter.”

Watch the Debate to Bear Witness to a Delusional, Con-Man Who Can’t Tell the Truth

Donald Trump, a delusional old man, will stand on the same stage as Vice-President Kamala Harris on September 10 in a debate on ABC moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis. It won’t be a debate. It will be a TV show casting a convicted felon, sexual abuser, and a fraudster against the Vice President who is an experienced prosecutor, district attorney of San Francisco, Attorney General of California, and now as the Vice-President of the United States. ABC news advanced advertising does nothing to point these differences, instead normalizing a criminal with serious psychological and harmful beliefs about America.

Do you remember when Kemp did this?

The Governor of Georgia has to come out of hiding and speak directly to the people of Georgia about gun laws. How in the hell does a 14-year-old obtain an AR-15 rifle, carry it to school, and kill and injure innocent students and teachers who came to school to see their friends and learn from their esteemed teachers?

Public schools are the most important establishments in our towns, villages, and cities. A child’s parent sends her to schools to meet new friends, collaborate with others, and learn from the most significant members of our communities: public school teachers. Students, teachers, parents, and grandparents of Winder are grieving. What are Georgia politicians doing? Nothing, except for Democratic State Senators who want the Governor to call the legislature back to deal with gun violence bills that Georgia legislators have already proposed. And they won’t because if we say ban assault weapons, they scream, “Don’t you take our right away to own guns!.”

Do you remember the Governor saying yesterday that now is not the time to deal with gun violence? He said, “It’s time for grieving.” We can grieve and talk about how to make it safe for schools to be safe harbors for all of our students and teachers. Come on, Brian. Get out there and bring them back in.
