FY 2018 Budget: War and Peace

Yesterday, I mistakenly used data submitted by the Trump administration in March for the FY 2018 Federal Budget.  I think I have the correct figures, and a link to the House Appropriations Committee which lists how much of the funding is allocated for each of the Departmenteg, Defense, EPA, Education, NSF,State, Homeland Security, etc.

However, to show a comparison between what the Trump administration proposed, and what was actually allocated by Congress, I’ve provided dollar figures, department by department for the FY2018 Budget.  Trump and his cronies were eagerly waiting with baited breath for some departments to be cut by more than 30%.  It didn’t happen.  In fact, Trump Inc. failed to reach nearly all his budgetary goals.  It was a failure.  But not for the military-industrial-complex.

This is a military and fight against terror. The budget supports the endless wars in the middle east, fear tactics to enlarge the fight against Islamic terrorists, yet ignoring that America is producing its own homegrown terrorists. Between the Defense Department and Homeland Security, Congress allocated $654 billion and $44 billion respectfully.  The EPA is having a rough go,  even with funding of   $8 billion.  This is $2.9 billion more than what the WH proposed.

I urge you you follow the link to House Appropriations Committee. From that page you find a list of the Fed Departments and two page summaries of expenditures & the rationale for how the money is allocated.  The military is on control, yet has a deep sway over Congress.

President Biden and His Predecessor in Georgia

President Biden and His Predecessor in Georgia

On Saturday, March 9th, Joe Biden and his predecessor visited Georgia a few days before the March 12 primary. In Georgia, the media appears to treat President Biden and his predecessor as equals in the 2024 presidential race. But they are not—not by a long shot. The media is replicating how they covered the 2020 presidential race. This is a failure of the free press to discern the real difference between the Republican candidate and the Democratic candidate, who happens to be President of the United States. The Republican candidate sought to stay in office in 2020 by staging a coup on January 6th, 2021. He lost the election by 7 million votes and still to this day, claims the Big Lie that the other side stole the election from him. Millions of Americans believe this, also. This is the underlying context that the press forgets to mention. The predecessor spent for years while sitting in the White House chipping away at the guard rails of democracy. Thankfully he was an under achieving autocrat.

AGEISM

AGEISM

This post is about ageism and how we discriminate against people that are considered old. We need to look at the media and ask why they are making the case that Biden is not fit for office based on his age. Most of the people in the media, those that are writing the stories and reporting on various outlets, are much younger than either Trump or Biden. Could they be involved in a case of bias, discrimination, or bullying on the basis of age? This very well could be the case. Researchers call this ageism, patterned after sexism and racism.
