What is Trump’s Stupidity of Hurricanes all about?

Trump has said repeatedly that he had no idea that Category 5 hurricanes existed. The map shows the tracks of Cat 5 hurricanes in the Atlantic since 1900.

He’s said he never heard of a Cat 5 hurricane when meeting with emergency management teams in D.C., and on the road when he makes his unwanted visits to damaged sites.  At these visitations, he makes a fool out of himself by showing his lack of knowledge about hurricanes, gun violence, or fires.

He threw paper towel rolls at people in a meeting in Puerto Rico after they had suffered the worst hurricane in its history.  He told the California Fire fighters that they needed to rake the floor of the forests like Norway did to prevent forest fires.  No, Norway didn’t rake their forest floors.  Trump visited the El Paso hospital where 8 patients were being treated after they were shot by the Walmart shooter. None of them wanted to see the guy.

We have a president that has absolutely no empathy.  Not only doesn’t he have the word in his vocabulary, he has no idea of how important it is for the President to show concern, and empathy for others who have suffered.  What Trump does is show stupidity, and turn the whole event into his own self gratification.

Trump is not stupid when he says he’s never heard of a Cat 5 hurricane.  He’s lying.

Trump has made more than 12,00 lies since he been in office.  With this Cat 5 business he’s indirectly denying scientific evidence about climate science.  Oddly, the numbers used to categorize hurricanes are not so controversial.  They are based on wind velocity.  If he’s really a golfer, he would know about wind velocity, wouldn’t he?

I’m not sure if the president is stupid.  But we have a president who denies and lies at the same time.  He’s done this most of his life.

The last place that Trump wants to find himself is in a room where experts and government professionals know much more than he does about the issue at hand, in this case hurricanes.  He doesn’t want to be there.  He doesn’t want to hear what they have to say, unless its about him, and how great “his” team is doing.

Trump uses his “unknowing” as way to play to his base.  We should recognize this, and know that he isn’t fooling us.

Examining Trump’s Authoritarian Strategies in 2020: His Attempted Coup

I wrote this post in on December 10, 2020 from my home office. From here, I can see wetlands formed from Mud Creek. Mud Creek is a small stream about 100 meters from my backyard. It runs for a few miles until it merges with Noses Creek. Eventually, it meets with Sweetwater Creek, a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, Georgia’s largest river.

I have been writing from this office since 1993. I will share more in the future as The Mud Creek Chronicles.

Visiting the past can help us navigate the future. This is especially true now. We have a wannabe dictator and a known authoritarian. They prefer meeting with leaders of authoritarian nations rather than democratic leaders.

Donald Trump and his sycophants were trying to steal the 2020 election. I wrote this nearly a month before he incited thousands to attack the United States Capitol Building. It was obvious. Or it should have been obvious. Autocrat Trump was showing the world that he was determined to stay in office, no matter what.
What did we learn from this attempted coup?

Another Existential Threat: Donald J. Trump

Another Existential Threat: Donald J. Trump

Donald Trump is now the president-elect and brings upon us another existential threat. In my book, The Trump Files, I concluded that Trump poses a significant risk. This is a conclusion I made if he were ever elected again as President. His election created an existential threat.

Despicable Hurricane Disinformation of Donald Trump & Marjorie Taylor Greene

Despicable Hurricane Disinformation of Donald Trump & Marjorie Taylor Greene

This post is about the misinformation that Republicans are spreading in light of recent disasters.

Two of the deadliest hurricanes have swept through Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, East Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia and then through Florida, again.

Millions of Floridians were displaced by one of the fiercest storms of the century to strike the west coast of the state. I saw some of the displaced people as they escaped Hurricane Milton to Atlanta and beyond.

Life in our warming world is becoming more dangerous.   Many have been forced to flee their homes two times in the past month. They know that hurricanes are part of life living where they do. One person wrote that her house has been demolished three times by hurricanes before Milton came roaring into the St Petersburg-Tampa Bay shoreline cities.

First responders’ rescue efforts are planned by folks who take their life-saving work seriously. During these disasters, people in need look for help from first responders and the local, state, and federal governments.

But lurking in the bushes are two despicable climate liars, Donald Trump and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
