Sharpie-Trump is a Diversion & Attack on the Media

Even Fox News ripped Donald Trump’s meteorology lesson claiming that Alabama would be hit by Hurricane Dorian. The Fox meteorologist made it clear that Alabama was never in the National Hurricane Forecast Center’s official confidence cone. She pointed out that the map that Trump showed was “inaccurate, misleading and fake.”

The map was altered by one of Trump’s aides using Trump favorite pen, the Sharpie.

 Correction

It was Trump who altered the map

When he said that Alabama was in the path of the hurricane, he said after he met with hurricane officials, but he talked with little or no authority.  He was winging it. And he spoke incorrectly about the storm.

The hurricane was never predicted to approach the state of Alabama at all.  And right after Trump claimed it was in Dorian’s path, the Gov. of Alabama announced that the hurricane was not heading northwest into Alabama.

But Trump has kept railing against the press, and using this mistake he made, as a way to belittle and attack the press and media.  Fake news showed the fake map.

This is part Trump’s dangerous attempt to derail the free press. His “enemy of the people” mantra has been central to his attack on the media.  It works very well with his base.  They go crazy at this rallies and they taunt and denigrate the press that appear at these rallies.

It’s a war that Trump has started, and the GOP has earmarked millions of dollars to dig up dirt on individual members of the press, and then feed these stories to Trump to continue his war on the press.

The American Authoritarian Mindset: Understanding Our Nation’s Path to Oppression

Authoritarianism is a mindset that is characterized by a strong belief in the power of authority and a tendency to support the status quo. This mindset is often seen in the United States, where it is deeply rooted in the nation’s history and culture. It is a mindset that has been used to justify oppressive policies and practices, and it has been linked to a range of social and political issues.

The post examines authoritarianism in the context of present political dilemma.

Is Donald Trump a Tyrant?

I thought I would revisit a blog post I wrote in August 2019 when Donald Trump was in the White House. The post was rewritten for my book, The Trump Files. Donald Trump is one of a host of strongmen identified in Ruth Ben-Ghiat’s book. Trump is a dangerous authoritarian who feeds his cult and their narcissism.

You think this is a witch hunt, Mr. President? That’s an insult to the women who suffered

You think this is a witch hunt, Mr. President? That’s an insult to the women who suffered

It borders on the ludicrous to hear the US President, touted as the most powerful man in the world, complain of being persecuted like a witch. The deaths of those convicted of witchcraft should not be demeaned and belittled.
