Trump’s Indictment, Finally

On November 1, 2022, I wrote a post entitled “Will Trump be indicted after the midterms?” It was based on writing by Chris Walker, a news writer at Truthout. He focuses on local (Madison, WI) and national issues and has written thousands of articles.

Well, now we know.

In that post I wrote that it is crucial for America’s democracy to sustain itself by holding Donald Trump accountable. Some of his actions or misdeeds may have been unlawful. Could it be that Trump may have exhausted his twists and turns to avoid being criminally indicted?

Trump’s list of possible crimes range from an attempted Coup d’état of the American government, racketeering, one of the probable charges for trying to overturn the Georgia election, sexual assault charges, to bribes to keep people quiet? And this does not include the Mueller investigation, nor Impeachment I for bribing Ukraine’s president, and Impeachment II for causing an insurrection on January 6. I haven’t mentioned hundreds of documents that he took from the White House. And I’m sure Trump has Jack Smith on his radar.

Who is the Antagonist?

Trump and the media have made Trump the victim and named District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, the antagonist. Trump has already threatened not only Alvin Bragg, but his wife, as well. And he went after the judge who will oversee the case. He’s instigating protests that could lead to violence. And one of Georgia’s U.S. representatives, by the name of Marjorie Taylor Greene is leading the charge. Danger.

He’s being charged with more than 30 counts related to business fraud, possibly connected to payments (hush money) made by his then attorney Michael Cohen to Stormy Daniels. According to Dictionary.com, “Hush money” is a bribe to keep someone silent about something, especially to keep the receiver from exposing a scandal. We know that the bride was paid to Stormy Daniels, who claims she had a sexual encounter with Donald Trump in 2006.

Some reports indicate that this is not a serious crime. They will tell you that there are other possible crimes that should be considered first.

But this is a serious crime. Hush money was paid to keep Ms. Daniels quiet before the election in November 2016. This was Trump’s first attempt to undermine an American election. The heroine in this indictment is Stormy Daniels.

I’ll continue this post tomorrow after we know the charges that are read aloud at Trump’s criminal hearing.

Donald Trump’s disqualification from running for president is front and center of American politics. The U.S. Constitution makes it very clear what qualifies and disqualifies a person who seeks the presidency.

The Trials of Donald Trump

None of these trials or indictments are witch hunts. It’s really a matter of which investigation you want to examine and the charges leveled at Trump. Trump faces legal battles in civil fraud cases, sexual assault allegations, of which he’s been found liable, classified document accusations, and election interference allegations.

In this post, I’ve reviewed each of the current cases.
