Today, President Obama reached out to Americans to reject leaders who try and feed fear and hatred. It is a poignant statement in light of the current presidents bigotry and racism, and his constant spread to fear and conspiracry theories to support his white supremacy views.
Leaders who follow this path of fear mongering and instilling hatred in people act cowardly. Trump does this everyday, and especially at his hate filled rallies. Instead of defending the Constitution of the United States, people such as Trump should be judged unfit for office, and impeached, as was done to Andrew Johnson.
People in El Paso and Dayton, and elsewhere in the nation, are outraged, and want politicians to do something now. People do not want to hear politicians say, “well, this is not the time for politics, its the time for comfort and prayers.” Of course it is on both counts. But politicians are quick to avoid the real problem, and instead look for scape goats, such as the mentally ill. This mentally ill refrain is unfortunate, and not backed by research. It’s easy for them to blame the vulnerable, and avoid the real culprits that have set a perfect storm for trajedy and terrorism. And they are white supremacy, hatred and the gun culture (especially the NRA).
Call Your Representatives
Reach out to our representatives in Congress, especially Republicans and tell them to come back to work, and pass laws to restrict gun sales, and to put more emphasis on investigating white supremacists and domestic terrorism.
