The House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will hold a joint hearing with the Foreign Affairs Committee on Sept 18 at 10:00 a.m.  Four climate crisis youth leaders will testify. The hearing will live streamed on the Foreign Affairs Committee website.

Youth leaders include Greta Thunberg, Sweden, Jamie Margolin, Seatttle, Vic Barrett, White Plains, NY, and Benji Backer, Appleton, Wisconsin.

Jamie Margolin, speaking at a TED conference, is a climate change activist from Seattle.  She and Nadia Nazare founded the youth climate action organization, Zero Hour. They formed Zero Hour after lack of response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, and the air pollution caused by Canadian wildfires.  She is a plaintiff in a case against the state of Washington because of its inaction on climate change.

Greta Thunberg from Sweden will also testify at the hearing.  She has been a climate activist whose activism has been heard by the Swedish parliament, and the United Nations.  Like Margolin, her action is directed at politicians who have done little to deal with the climate crisis.  She is the leader of the school strike movement, a global action in which students engaged in striking on Fridays, calling itself Fridays for the Future.

Vic Barrett is a 20 year old youth activist, and a plaintiff in the case Juliana, et al. v. United State of America, et al.  A 2015 lawsuit brought by 21 youth plaintiffs against the United States.

Benji Backer is a conservative and founder of the American Conservative Coalition.
