Violence in American Politics

In Butler, PA, at a Trump rally, sounds were heard, and it appeared as if Trump was hit in the back or side of his head. I saw blood on the side of his face as he was rushed off the stage by the Secret Service into a vehicle.

I hope he is okay. He was taken away, and I assume, to a hospital.

Here’s a photo of Trump at the Rally just before shots were heard. Trump put his hand over his ear and went down on the stage. He was rushed off the stage to a waiting vehicle.
This photo shows the crowd that was behind Trump’s stage just as they heard sounds and Trump went down.

Threats of Violence

We should also say here that Donald Trump and his MAGA followers have advocated violence at their rallies, including on January 6, when Trump followers stormed the U.S. Capitol. As documented in Ruth Ben-Giat’s book Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present, violence has been an attribute of Strongmen.

Trump has a long history of advocating violence. Was it simply a matter of time before Trump would be the real victim of a violent act as we witnessed at the rally? We should never condone anything such as this from happening. But, I am concerned that this will raise the level of violence in American politics.

I am not sure what will be learned from this. We have more guns in this country than people. We have mass killings nearly every day in our country. Will a particular political party heed the situation and join with others to reduce the violence that marks our country today?

Donald Trump’s Dangerous Rhetoric is Fueling Political Violence

The provocative rhetoric of figures like Donald Trump and J.D. Vance has significantly shaped the political landscape in recent months. Donald Trump, as we all recall, instigated a violent attack on the nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021, resulting in his second impeachment and two indictments charged by the U.S. Justice Department and the District Attorney of Fulton County, Ga.

Trump’s speeches and social media posts often contain inflammatory language that can incite strong reactions among their supporters. This rhetoric has contributed to a climate where political violence is increasingly seen as a viable means of expressing discontent. Understanding the impact of his words and media posts is crucial in analyzing the broader implications for political stability and public safety.

Representative Greene: Be Careful What You Wish For

Marjorie Taylor Greene should be very careful what she wishes for. She tweeted that red states should separate from blue states. Claims everyone is talking about. I show that she might consider moving since GA has drifted away from being a red state.

Donald Trump presents the United States with what Dr. Robert Jay Lifton calls “malignant normality,”1 which occurs when society begins to see forms of destructive and dangerous behavior as normal. Donald Trump and Trumpism render an array of malignant normality.
