The Revised Indictment of Donald J. Trump

Trump's Legal Battle: Nabbed by Jack Smith

Federal prosecutors, led by Jack Smith have issued a revised indictment against former President Donald J. Trump, focusing on his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. What angers many of us is that he’s running again and is working with the same and many more co-conspirators to prepare to overturn the 2024 election.

This page delves into the details and implications of these new charges.

Revised Indictment Overview

Key Charges Against Trump

The revised indictment against former President Donald J. Trump includes several serious charges. These charges focus on his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. The key charges are:

  • Conspiracy to Defraud the United States: Trump is accused of conspiring with others to use deceit to impair the lawful function of the federal government in certifying the election results.
  • Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding: Trump allegedly conspired to obstruct the certification of the electoral vote.
  • Obstruction of, and Attempt to Obstruct, an Official Proceeding: Trump is charged with corruptly obstructing the electoral vote certification.
  • Conspiracy Against Rights: Trump is accused of conspiring to oppress and intimidate individuals in the exercise of their right to vote.

These charges highlight the gravity of the allegations against Trump and the lengths to which he and his co-conspirators allegedly went to subvert the democratic process.

If Trump or any of the co-conspirators are found guilty of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding or obstruction of an official proceeding, they could face a statutory maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, a stark reminder of the gravity of the charges.

How Trump & Co-Conspirators Operated

Subverting the Election Results

Former President Trump and his co-conspirators orchestrated a complex scheme to overturn the 2020 election results. They propagated false claims of election fraud to persuade state legislators and election officials to alter the legitimate electoral outcomes.

Please note that they are repeating this conspiracy in preparation for creating chaos in the 2024 election. For example, there has been a concerted effort to make it easy for election officials to hold up the cert

They organized fraudulent slates of electors in seven key states, creating and transmitting false documents to support their claims. Despite being informed by his running mate and staff that he had lost the election, Trump continued to make false claims publicly and on social media. The culmination of these efforts was a rally on January 6th, where Trump furthered his false narrative, leading to the infamous Capitol riot.

Importance of this Reindictment

This indictment should have led to a criminal trial by now.  However, the Supreme Court acted in favor of the former president by ruling that Trump was broadly immune from prosecution for official acts while in office.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan and an appeals court unanimously agreed that the president does not have immunity from prosecution. The Supreme Court passed on the appeal, but they waited for months to rule, giving Trump more time to delay going forward.

Jack Smith is unrelenting in his effort to hold Trump and his co-conspirators responsible for the Jan. 6 attack and their massive effort to stay in power and turn the United States into an autocracy.

Like many other autocrats and (wannabe) dictators, Trump’s efforts need to be stopped.  The only way that we can stop him is vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Into the Storm, Again

As the 2024 presidential election looms, the echoes of the past grow louder. Trump and Trumpism have stirred a storm that threatens to repeat itself.

Trump’s dangerousness and continued authoritarian language echo present and past strongmen such as Berlusconi, Putin, and Hitler.

The storm raging is Trumpism, and it must be blown out to sea.

Donald Trump’s disqualification from running for president is front and center of American politics. The U.S. Constitution makes it very clear what qualifies and disqualifies a person who seeks the presidency.
