Moon, Venus & Jupiter over Marietta

Last night was a good time to view not only the moon, but Jupiter and Venus. Here are few photos showing what I saw last night.

Moon over Mud Creek

We live on the edge of a wetlands which is home to Mud Creek. From my backyard looking across the wetlands (to the East), this is what I pictured.

Jupiter and Venus

Looking to the west from my driveway, two planets were clearly visible. In fact, they were the only spots of light in the early evening (right after dusk) sky.

I sent these pictures to my friend Roger Cross in Burra, Australia. In addition to being a prolific writer, Roger is an astronomer who has an observatory in his back yard. He replied with this note:

Hi Jack,

Absolutely terrific.

Loved the moon peeping through the trees and you caught Venus and Jupiter perfectly.
