President Obama is the most significant and important president in my lifetime.

He changed what America can be. He followed in the footsteps of many civil rights leaders, including Martin Luther King Jr., John Lewis, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Fannie Lou Hamer, and Ella Baker. To me and many, Obama’s impact was profound.

I’ve written about him on my blog, and read some of his and Michelle’s books.

When I turned 74, I started taking online courses art courses using watercolor and acrylics. I’ve painted landscapes, rivers, ponds, marshes, still life, seascapes, and townscapes. I’ve documented my journey on my art blog (Theo’s Art Space). But also emotional life like how America is treating immigrants, or how we deal with natural disasters.

But I’ve also used my brush painting portraits.

So, you see, I have a different image in my mind of Barack Obama.
