I received an email note from Minjae Ormes, Digital PR + Film Consultant at National Geographic announcing Drain the Ocean, a TV program that explores the terrain and creatures beneath the ocean.  Using scientific research and CGI, NG “drains the ocean” to reveal a landscape largely unknown to us.

The program airs Sunday, August 9 at 9PM ET/PT on the National Geographic Channel.

By linking to an interactive map, you can see what the terrain of the ocean floor looks like when the water is drained.

Use this map to discover hidden lanscapes beneath the ocean.

To give you an idea of the imagery involved in exploring a drained ocean, here is a video clip showing the terrain around Hawaii.

I hope you have a chance to watch this intriguing program.
