One on the things that Al Gore’s book has done is to bring the issue of climate change (global warming) to the surface via his book/film/appearances/interviews, and also independent reviews and discussions in local neswspapers. In the Atlanta Journal today, there was a very good article on the Issues page entitled “Studies Change Debate’s Climate.” The byline was “naysayers persist, but evidence gives credence to concerns. Mixing scientific studies, religious support (faith-based environmental organization supports concerns about global warming), and issue debate, the article gives a fairly balanced view of climate change, but in my opinion, leans toward Gore’s warning. I’ll talk more about specific studies, especially at Georgia Tech, that support the idea of how global warming might be linked to an increased number of intense hurricanes, and a group of scientists at Colorado State that don’t agree. Tune in for more.
Particulate Matter: Some Observations
Particulate matter (PM) has become front and center because of the Canadian forest fires and wind patterns over the northeastern and middle Atlantic states. However, air quality alerts are as far south as Alabama and west to St. Louis. In this post, I use maps and images to provide information on how to understand air quality.
